With over three decades of legal experience, Chris is an established leader in the field of Information Law with a particular focus on information governance issues.  At Redgrave, he serves as the lead attorney for several of the Firm’s key clients, advising on their eDiscovery and information governance needs.  Chris oversees the development of discovery strategy in complex litigation and investigation matters and has briefed and argued eDiscovery motions in dozens of federal and state court cases.  He also regularly advises clients on complex information governance issues, including developing policies and processes governing the retention and disposition of data and implementing legal holds.

Chris works with clients to develop holistic solutions that consider both information governance and eDiscovery.  In his information governance matters, Chris counsels clients on a broad range of issues, including leading large-scale assessments of existing information governance and eDiscovery processes and programs.  He advises clients on defensible disposition projects, including system and hardware decommissioning and physical record remediation, and counsels on the defensibility of large-scale data migrations and conversions.  Chris also helps clients develop data retention, management, and disposition protocols, customized litigation hold processes, bring your own device (BYOD) policies, defensible employee and technology onboarding and offboarding processes, network use policies, and record management policies and schedules.

In his eDiscovery matters, Chris develops and executes practical eDiscovery approaches at all stages of the discovery process, from document production to briefing and arguing matters in court.   He has represented clients in the insurance, banking, securities, manufacturing, retail, technology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, energy, and healthcare sectors.  Chris regularly develops preservation plans, negotiates electronically stored information (ESI) protocols, and prepares and defends fact and corporate representative witnesses with respect to discovery-related issues.  He has also acted as a discovery neutral in contentious litigation matters and assisted with expert witness testimony.

Before joining Redgrave, Chris was a Partner at Dentons, where he founded and led the eDiscovery and Information Governance practice for the U.S. region.  Chris was also clerk to Robert Murphy, Chief Judge, Court of Appeals of Maryland.
