Matt is an eDiscovery and data privacy attorney with more than fifteen years of experience advising clients on efficient discovery processes, from identification and production through trial use.

Matt advises clients on leveraging technology solutions and data analysis to optimize cost-effectiveness and leads all aspects of discovery and fact development, including initial client discussions, custodial interviews, collection and processing oversight, post-production review, and the creation of issue-specific memoranda and deposition preparation materials. 

Matt also focuses on identifying, assessing, and evaluating emerging approaches and technologies. 

Matt has technical knowledge in a broad range of data privacy and protection issues, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and cross‐border data transfers across the globe.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe and a thought leader, speaker, and contributor in the legal industry, addressing a range of topics related to AI, technology, and data privacy.

Before joining Redgrave, Matt practiced as a discovery counsel at MoloLamken and as discovery counsel at Baxter Healthcare Corporation.

Matt’s work experience includes:

  • Working with a large finance and insurance company to provide guidance and support for all aspects of discovery in a decades-long complex antitrust litigation matter
  • Detailing complex structured data systems relating to transportation safety and logistics to provide an adequate defense of the design and efficacy of those systems across multiple proceedings.
  • Providing cross-border data privacy advice to large corporations, including a multinational company with consumer-facing operations in over 100 countries, a major pharmaceutical company, and a global automotive manufacturing company, relating to everything from consumer data to data collected from employee mobile devices
  • Developing an understanding of structure data systems and procedures related to clinical trials and safety for a major pharmaceutical company
  • Assisting a large healthcare and insurance company with the assessment information governance frameworks – including systems and policies – to determine whether adequate protections were implemented to prevent data loss and provided advice to remediate/mitigate any possible gaps in policy
  • Helping to develop proactive approaches to proper data identification, preservation, and minimization for a major pharmaceutical company
